yet another farm manager job

picking beansOk people. I just want to say, if you are going to manage someone else's farm make darn sure you get:

- Healthcare
- Housing
- Salary of at least a teacher/ non profit person ( 35-45k)
- Farm owned vehicle to drive

This is a big land, full of opportunity, so if you are fulfilling someone else's dream, you should expect a good contract, good working conditions and a fair pay rate. We needn't be naive in our excitement to work the land.

New farmland owners near Doylestown, PA (40 miles north of Philadelphia) are hiring a full-time farm manager to start-up a diversified vegetable CSA and farmers market operation, starting late January or early February. JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking a full-time farmer-entrepreneur to launch and grow our sustainable farm. We are located on 50 acres of farmland in northeastern Pennsylvania, three miles north of Doylestown and 40 miles north of Philadelphia. We will begin farming a small, diversified vegetable CSA in the2013 season and expand to increasing members and crop diversity in futures easons. We will also grow for market. Plans for future expansion include incorporating honeybees and medicinal herbs. Experience in these areas is a plus. For the right person, the opportunity will provide a rewarding mix of hands-on farming, entrepreneurial potential, and interaction with the community, as well as guidance from the landowners who are successful businessowners.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Two full seasons minimum active participation in vegetable production, with a demonstrated increase in responsibility.  Start-up farming and/or CSA
experience a plus.
• People management skills.  Successful candidate will need to interview, hire and manage the farm team, which may include farming interns and apprentices.
• Strength in problem solving, and the ability to resolve issues independently.
• Experience in record keeping and database management.This is a year-round, salaried position with housing and bonus as applicable for exceptional performance. Start date late January to early February 2013.
