The Choice to Farm

Posted: February 5 2009

pict6082The Choice to Farm is a report documenting the current role of new farmers as actors in the social movement for sustainable agriculture in the United States. The work focuses upon the stories of five individuals who have begun farming within the past ten years, all of whom earned non-agricultural college degrees, and most of whom grew up in urban or suburban settings. Annie Myers is a student of "Agriculture and Regional Food Systems" at NYU's Gallatin School. She embarked upon this research project as a result of her own interest in starting a farm, and because of her faith in the ability of the movement for sustainable agriculture to achieve its goals, particularly through the work of young farmers.
