Radix Ecological Sustainabilty Center

Posted: November 14 2010

The Radix Ecological Sustainability Center is a new not-for-profit educational organization based in inner city Albany, NY.   The purpose of the Radix Center is to promote ecological literacy and environmental stewardship through educational programs based around demonstrations of sustainable technologies.
They've acquired a half acre lot in the south end of Albany on the corner of Grand and Warren Streets, have a use variance for the property, and are applying for a permit to construct a 20 x 60 greenhouse. They also got permission to keep some small livestock — chickens and goats — too!
Director Scott Kellogg is also co-author of the book “Toolbox for Sustainable City Living: A Do-it-Ourselves Guide” (South End Press) and the primary teacher of R.U.S.T. – The Radical Urban Sustainability Training, an intensive weekend workshop in urban ecological survival skills.
