Bioneers: Revolution from the Heart of Nature

Posted: August 5 2011

The Bioneers conference, October 14-16 in San Rafael, CA will feature Severine von Tscharner Fleming in the workshop Growing Growers: The 100,000 New Farmers Challenge with Sarita Role Schaffer of Grow Food and Organic Valley farmer Tyler Webb. Meet the vanguard of new young farmers as they discuss their creative responses to the challenges and rewards of their critically important vocation.
Bioneers provides the information, inspiration and connections- by sharing transformative stories and creative solutions- to help individuals and communities envision and implement their own sustainable food system.
Other food and farming highlights at the Bioneers conference will include: avoiding colony collapse disorder with Biodynamic beekeeper Gunther Hauk and pollinator-friendly garden designer Kate Frey; the risks of genetically engineered crops with a presentation and an organizing meeting led by Andrew Kimbrell of the Center for Food Safety with GMO expert Jeffrey Smith; young leaders of the food justice movement; a farm tour led by the Agricultural Institute of Marin; and the annual Bioneers seed exchange. Dr. Elaine Ingham of Rodale Institute will present the latest science on the environmental benefits of organic agriculture and Paul Stamets’ astonishing work on how mushrooms restore ecosystems is simply brilliant.
