another survey, from zocalo

Posted: September 9 2010

Hi, Greenhorns! We are doing some research into production, marketing, and distribution among small- and medium-sized farms and we'd especially love to get the views of young farmers in the mix. The survey link is here: http://surveymonkey.com/s/zocalofood. Look forward to hearing from you and please spread the word to other farmers you know!

Dear Farmer,
Zocalo, a new venture that aims to make direct marketing of agricultural products more efficient and scalable, is conducting research into U.S. farms’ market channels, distribution models, and information technology use. We are seeking input from farmers across the country to identify opportunities and challenges in managing a successful farm operation. Our primary interests are:
a) to ensure the long-term viability of diversified agriculture in the U.S.;
b) to improve market opportunities for small- and medium-sized farms; and,
c) to strengthen the connection between farmers and their customers.
Information about the survey below:

The results of this survey will remain anonymous and will only be used to assess the feasibility of alternative market connections for farmers. We will not release the results of this survey to external entities unless you give us explicit permission. We ask that you provide your name for data verification purposes only.
This survey has six sections: Farm Information, Production, Marketing, Distribution, Technology Use, and General Questions. We anticipate it will take no longer than 15 minutes to complete. Your participation will help us design and implement projects that we hope will benefit you and your farm.
We appreciate your input and insights. If you include your contact information at the end of this survey, we will provide you with an overview and analysis of the aggregated survey responses. If you have any questions or would like to get in touch with us, please email us at [email protected] or call us at 917-592-2791.
Sincerely,
The Zocalo Team
