a cannery in every town!

this is the latest from Schoharie Co-op Cannery
Hello, Everyone:
I thought it would be a good idea to update everyone on Schoharie Co-op Cannery's status and progress, as well as to ask for a little help. A visit to our website will tell you what's happening: www.schohariecannery.org
DSCF1269Additionally, we're trying to:

  • locate another community canning operation anywhere in the nation on which we might model our operation, so as not to re-invent the wheel. We intend to can in metal and glass jars, high-acid, fruits and vegetables. Our plans call for a commercial assembly-line for growers, as well as a separate, shared use kitchen for those with produce on a different scale. Existing operations subsidized by local governments won't work because the finances aren't applicable.
  • locate a business plan for such an operation which we might use as a guide for costs, equipment, rates-of-return, etc.
