Purchaser Position Available Immediately
Veritable Vegetable is offering a full time Purchasing position. We provide full service distribution of certified organic fresh fruits and vegetables to retailers, restaurants, and wholesalers. Veritable Vegetable is a woman owned business, founded on principles of cooperation, participatory management, and ethical business practices.  Located in San Francisco, California, we have been creating community alliances and promoting sustainable agriculture since 1974. We are the oldest organic produce distributor in the nation.
Primary Responsibilities:

• Identify, evaluate, qualify and develop business relationships internally and externally with farmers and vendors
• Maintain, grow and strengthen relationships with organic farmers and within the industry and food systems community
• Represent our company as the grower’s distributor of choice
• Ability to communicate our company values to staff, our community and all outside contacts

REQUIREMENTS:

• 3 + years retail, sourcing or purchasing experience with proven success
• Knowledge of  logistics and ability to work closely with our Transportation Department
• Knowledge of organic produce industry regulations and publications
• Outstanding relationship building skills; a high degree of integrity
• Must possess strong communication and presentation skills
• Self motivated, highly organized team player
• an entrepreneurial and collaborative spirit
