Washington FarmLink helps facilitate the transition of farms to the next generation. FarmLink focuses on connecting aspiring farmers and current landowners to each other and to resources, providing services such as: farmer/landowner matching, educational workshops, a comprehensive resource center and one-on-one assistance. Washington FarmLink is a program of Cascade Harvest Coalition, a non-profit that connects farmers to farmers, eaters and markets. To learn more, visit: www.cascadeharvest.org
PCC Farmland Trust and the Historic Reise Farm:
PCC Farmland Trust works to preserve and maintain organic farmlands. In September 2012, the Trust completed purchase of the 120 acre Historic Reise Farm, located in the Puyallup Valley of Pierce County near the City of Orting. Historically, the Reise family has grown food, flower bulbs and even Christmas trees on this farm for the local community since 1903. Through a great partnership with Pierce County, the Trust was able to conserve and purchase this great, prime farmland property, protecting it as farmland forever. The Trust is working with a farmer to organically farm 38 acres of this property. To learn more, visit:http://www.pccfarmlandtrust.org/
Pierce Conservation District (PCD) is a non-regulatory organization working cooperatively with landowners to reduce soil erosion, improve water quality and help preserve natural resources. PCD can provide technical assistance to help improve your property's resource management. To learn more, visit:http://www.piercecountycd.org/home.html
We'll provide a light lunch, coffee and a little holiday cheer. Please wear appropriate footwear for touring the farm and outerwear for weather. We'll be outside. Kids welcome, but please leave pets at home.
Hosted by WA FarmLink/Cascade Harvest Coalition, PCC Farmland Trust and Pierce Conservation District with funding from the WSDA/USDA Specialty Crop Block Grant Program.
This is a free event. Registration is required. Questions? Visitwww.cascadeharvest.org or contact Sarah, [email protected], (206) 632-0606.
