Howdy fellow young farmers,
This upcoming season, my partner & I have the privilege of stewarding a small piece of land nestled in the Puget Sound. Island Meadow is a previously full-time organic farm nestled in the hills on Vashon Island, located just outside of town & a short ferry ride to Seattle. The owners of this magical place, Greg & Julie, are taking a hiatus from farming for a while & have granted us their blessing in growing for the 2009 season & longer if things go well.

The property is about 1.5 acres of cultivation, mostly for annual vegetable crops, with some perennials on the side: raspberries, rhubarb, apples, figs, hazelnuts, kiwis. We plan on raising chickens for eggs, & if
things are going well, dabbling in some ducks or a milking goat. We plan on experimenting with no-till, cover crops, seaweed-harvesting, compost, inter-planting, bicycle-delivered produce, and more. We are looking for a third person to join our farming collective, in some way we all see fit, whether that be fully financially invested, or as a part time apprentices. We have housing about 4 miles away from the
property, in a collective household that also has another acre of growing space where we plan to grow as well.
Caitlin & myself have farming experience both in the Pacific Northwest & down in the central coast of California, where we have apprenticed on successful family farms for several seasons.
