AMERICAN FARMLAND TRUST: NO FARMS NO FOOD RALLY MARCH 13, 2013
"We are thrilled to support the No Farms No Food rally and help our listeners make the connection between protecting farmland and our ability to eat regionally grown foods."
–Erin Fairbanks, Executive Director, Heritage Radio Network
HeritageRadioNetwork.org (HRN) joins the American Farmland Trust (AFT) New York State office, as the "official" unofficial voice of the 2013 No Farms No Food Rally. The New York State office of the AFT, farmers, local food advocates, land trust staff, and community leaders join together on Wednesday, March 13th at the State Capital in Albany, NY to have their voices heard. In its fourth year, No Farms No Food Rally, will take to the halls of the State Capital to meet with State Legislators and urge them to support farm and food economies, protect farmland from development, and increase access to locally grown food for all New Yorkers. HRN will be there to tell the stories of these passionate communities coming together to support strong New York farm and food economies.
Leading up to the March 13th rally, HeritageRadioNetwork.org’s Executive Director and Host of The Farm Report Erin Fairbanks and Leah K. Eden, Director of Research and Communications, sat down with the American Farmland Trust New York office team to create training tools for rally participants available at HeritageRadioNetwork.org:
-
Part 1: Event Overview with Laura Ten Eyck, AFT Senior NY Project & Outreach Manager
- Part 2: AFT Priorities with David Haight, New York State Director of AFT
- Part 3: Advocacy & Lobbying with Jeff Jones, environmental lobbyist & consultant
HRN will be doing more than just reporting on the Rally. We will attend to advocate on behalf of our network. HRN is no stranger to connecting farmers and foodies, some of our most popular shows are those that keep listeners informed and engaged with the latest news from down on the farm to the halls of our regional and national government. HeritageRadioNetwork.org friends and allies Greenhorns (HRN’s Greenhorn Radio) will be on hand at the 2013 No Farms No Food Rally to support American Farmland Trust. They represent the growing community of new and young farmers eager to grow a sustainable future on small and medium sized farms. HeritageRadioNetwork.org is the grass roots media outlet for the No Farms No Food Rally. With our millions of listens and unique voice, we bridge the gap between farmer and foodie.
