NESAWG network coordinator position

The NESAWG Network Coordinator manages one of the largest and most influential sustainable agriculture and food systems networks in the Northeast. With participation of more than 500 organizations and 1,500 individuals, NESAWG is a hub for communications, information resources, public policy development and food system innovation, serving 12 states from Maine to West Virginia. The ideal NESAWG Network Coordinator will have a regional food system perspective, the skills to facilitate the network’s evolution, and the diplomacy to balance diverse interests. Currently, this position is quarter-time (average 10 hours/week). The hours and schedule are flexible.

Key responsibilities:

1. Catalyze development of NESAWG’s strategic vision and direction in collaboration with Steering Committee and other key stakeholders.

2. Provide network support services. Be familiar with groups, projects, events and policy issues that pertain to NESAWG’s areas of interest in the region and nationally. Provide resources and referrals, and respond to inquiries.

3. Represent NESAWG in meetings and events. Connect and network with other groups and networks in the region and nationally.

4. Organize NESAWG’s annual conference. Work with conference organizer and planning committee. Manage conference budget, seek conference sponsors and oversee all implementation.

5. Solicit funding support. Seek new sources of funds. With Steering Committee review, prepare proposals and reports. Maintain funder relations.

6. Manage NESAWG budget. Develop annual budget with input from Steering Committee. Manage all expenditures, tracking and reporting, and maintain fiscal sponsor relationship.

7. Develop communications and materials. With staff/volunteers/committees, design, produce and update promotional materials. Produce or oversee reports, papers, etc. Work with communications staff on website and listserv, and craft NESAWG messages.
8. Promote the NESAWG network. Reach out to groups to encourage participation in NESAWG. Communicate about NESAWG and champion the network model and core NESAWG concepts (e.g., regionalism).

9. Supervise NESAWG’s part-time staff and contractors. Build work plans, monitor progress and provide support. Draft contracts, job descriptions and internal policies for Steering Committee approval.

10. Work with Steering Committee and report to it. Prepare information, reports, meeting agendas and minutes. Identify issues and topics to be addressed by Steering Committee. Maintain records, archives and other NESAWG works.

This is a contractor position. The job may be conducted out of an organization or home office.

Preferred availability is September 1 with a summer transition period if possible. Wage to be negotiated. NESAWG’s fiscal sponsor is Just Food, Inc.
