Job opening - Hudson Valley assistant farm manager

A 100 year-old central Hudson Valley, New York family farm seeks an assistant manager. This is a full-time, long-term, growth-oriented position with substantial, varied responsibility for day-to-day operations of a 20 employee, 180-acre orchard and vegetable Integrated Pest Management approach farm with direct-retail market & wholesale outlets from Albany to New York City. Any combination of relevant background, skills and motivation will be considered; training will be as necessary.
You will work alongside family ownership, full-time employees and migrant laborers in a range of outdoor and indoor roles, including (but not limited to):
Field work: tractors & implements, tree pruning, harvest, irrigation, frost mitigation
Advertising/Media: Adwords, print, blog & signage upkeep, maintenance/monitoring
Cider Room: operation, supervision and record-keeping
Seasonal Farmstand & Pick-Your-Own operation: employee staffing & oversight, management
Seasonal Farmer's Markets: oversight & work as necessary
Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs): monitoring & record-keeping
Equipment maintenance & upkeep (from mowers to water pumps to loppers and everything in between)
General Skills:
Food processing and/or farm equipment operation background (vintage/modern tractors & implements, fork-lifts, cider-making, heavy trucks)
background a plus. Construction and/or mechanical experience (including engines, welding, carpentry, etc), Spanish language skills, and/or service industry backgrounds desirable.
