LAUREN KAPLAN (Battery Urban Farm) grew up on the North Fork of Long Island, where she developed an early and deep-seeded appreciation for the value that small-scale farms and access to locally grown food bring to a community. After a six-year career in book publishing, Lauren felt the pull of her rural roots and made the decision to support diversified, sustainable and local agriculture with more than just her fork. She worked
or volunteered with Red Jacket Orchards, Garden of Eve, GrowNYC, two East End wineries and a
flower shop before joining The Battery Conservancy as Project Coordinator of Battery Urban Farm.
BEN FLANNER (Brooklyn Grange) is a trained Industrial Engineer with a background in business and marketing. In 2009 Ben co-founded Eagle Street Rooftop Farms, the first rooftop soil farm in New York, and is widely recognized as a leader in rooftop urban agriculture. He is currently developing sustainable energy technology fueled by friendly, mid-western charm and the elongated “A” in the Wisconsin accent.
DALY CLEMENT (Fort Greene Park Vegetable Garden) spent the last two years directing a farming program for adults with developmental disabilities (primarily those on the autism spectrum) located on Long Island. He also founded the Revolutionary Era Garden in Fort Greene Park where he's taught 1st-3rd graders from a local school, run programming in conjunction with Extreme Kids (a local organization dedicated to serving the needs of very young children with developmental disabilities), and also hosted regular community gardening events throughout the summer.
MICKEY DAVIS (The Greene Grape) has been interested in health and wellness from a very young age, and has always held a fascination for the way healthy food systems facilitate healthy people, healthy lifestyles and healthy communities. She grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and graduated with a degree in Nutrition Science: Physiology and Metabolism from UC Berkeley. She has worked on numerous farms and school gardens, and recently moved to Brooklyn to source the finest Fruits and Vegetables for Greene Grape Provisions.

Please join us for a screening of THE GREENHORNS, a documentary about young farmers in America. Panel discussion to follow the movie, featuring representatives from the Brooklyn Grange, the Urban Farm at Battery Park, The Fort Greene Park Vegetable Garden, and Greene Grape Provisions. Beer and wine from The Greene Grape will be available for sale as well. We hope to see you at this one-night tribute to sustainable farming, and to Fort Greene's contribution to a healthier local food system!
Admission is $7; all ticket sales benefit the Fort Greene Park Vegetable Garden.
