What’s growing in the backyard of the Bay Area? Are you a designer, artisan, young or novice farmer, looking to explore soil-to-skin practices? If so…mark you calendars for Fibershed’s Wool & Fine Fiber Symposium.
For the first time, our community is coming together to learn the true nature of our local textile resource base…the quality, quantity, and land management practices will all be explored by an expert panel of our region’s farmers and ranchers. (See schedule below.)
Displays of the region’s fiber and examples of the products being made with it will be on site for your research, and a portion of the fiber products will be for sale.

Schedule of Events:
10:00-10:30 Intro to our Symposium/Fibershed update (by Rebecca Burgess)
10:30-12:00 Panel Discussion on land management and animal husbandry with a range of farmers and ranchers
12:00-12:30 Question & Answer followed by time to research with individual farmers
12:30-1:30 Lunch (bring your own lunch or enjoy one of the nearby local restaurants)
1:30-2:30 Shearing Panel documenting the quantity and quality of wool in our region
2:30-3:00 Fiber processing talk from two young fiber entrepreneurs
Registration:
Cost: $40 general admission; $20 for students and seniors.
FREE with each registration: a swatch card of a variety of local yarns and fibers produced by our panel members, and 1 year of membership in the Fibershed Producer’s Program for qualified producers.
