The Summer University at the Horticulture Farm is a 6-8 week period where six summer courses will be held at UVM's 100 acre research farm. The courses include Entomology and Pest Management, Plant Pathology, Weed Ecology and Management, Tree Fruit Production, Ecological Agriculture, and an Organic Farming Practicum. Students can take one or all of these hands-on, field based courses that are taught by university professors, state extension personnel, and current producers.
The second summer opportunity is UVM's new Farmward Bound program. This highly-flexible, innovative, hands-on program is designed for aspiring farmers, agriculture leaders, and people interested in learning about the food system first hand. The summer Farmward Bound Program features an intensive two week farm-based residential experience in which students have the opportunity to live with and learn from successful local farmers.
