FARMER or FARM COUPLE
Seeking experienced farmer or farm couple with a minimum of 2 years farm management and 4-5 years organic growing experience to continue growing on 1+ acres already in no till production while developing an addition 20+ acres for future organic vegetable and seed production. Farmer will be provided with shared housing, land access, start-up budget, existing farm stand, and assistance with marketing, publicity, and educational events. CSA or market growing experience preferred. Willingness to work collaboratively with local seed company, farm school, botanic illustrator, and food bank. Starts Feb 2013, minimum 3 year commitment. INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY
The Hudson Valley Seed Library is hiring a full season intern. 30-35 hours per week will be spent on the seed farm with 5-10 hours per week gaining experience on neighboring farms, CRAFT meetings, helping with events, and attending Seed Library workshops. Intern will assist with all aspects of the Seed Library including seed starting, seedling sale, preparing beds, weeding, maintaining farm infrastructure, harvesting, processing, cleaning, testing, and storing seed. Because we farm and process seed by hand this is a very physically demanding job. Some previous growing experience is required. Organizational and good writing skills are a plus! Intern receives shared housing, small vegetable share, and seeds plus a monthly stipend. Position runs March - October with possibility of winter employment.
