Collaboration for Mutual Aid: Feb. 25th 6-9:30 PM.
New small farms are proliferating here in the Valley.  In the coming years, we may face some direct-marketing challenges, but also more potential to work together for mutual benefit. What do we need to capture more value?  How can we  tap the opportunities arising?  What do we want for our farms?

On Tues, Feb. 255h, 6-9:30pm, farmers from Columbia and Dutchess counties will come together to generate and troubleshoot ideas for collaboration.  We will document common need, voice support for ideas, and set up working groups to match projects with the resources needed to make them happen.   Participants are invited to bring their suggestions, state their challenges, and pitch their project ideas. Topic categories currently include:

  • Multi-Farm CSA
  • Promoting direct-to-consumer markets
  • Distribution/Transportation
  • Shared Equipment
  • Labor-sharing programs
  • Shared facilities and processing.

This event is co-sponsored by the Hudson Valley Young Farmers Coalition and the Farmer’s Research Circle, and facilitated by Claudia Kenny of Little Seed Farm.  The event is sponsored by a Hawthorne Valley Credere grant.
