Whole student body eats their gourmet vegetables

Gourmet vegetables such as butternut squash, plum tomatoes and osmin purple basil, usually found on New York's most upscale menus, were prepared yesterday to feed 3,000 Queens high school students.
Perhaps more remarkable was the fact that the produce featured in the epicurean delight was planted and harvested by the students of Flushing's John Bowne High School in their own backyard - a bucolic 4-acre farm.
