ABOUT THE POSITION:
Brooklyn Grange, the world’s leading soil-based rooftop farming business, is seeking experienced and knowledgeable Farm Managers to run its 1-acre site in Long Island City, Queens, NY and its 1.5-acre site in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, in Brooklyn. Each Farm Manager will report to the Head Farmer, and will be responsible for all day-to-day operations at their respective site, including directing staff, preparing beds, cultivating and harvesting field crops and greenhouse microgreens, planning and packing weekly wholesale orders and CSA shares , managing the compost program, coordinating with our Director of Sales on the availability of wholesale crops, undertaking infrastructure projects and maintenance, and occasionally managing weekly farm stands.
The Farm Manager should be personable and an excellent communicator and motivator. A team player, the ideal candidate demonstrates good judgment and maturity in leading a team. Organized and energetic, the Farm Manager should set a brisk pace for their team and take pride in in completing all daily tasks. The Farm Manager should also continually demonstrate initiative in tending to the farm.
