2nd Annual Living Lands Farm Tour -July 17th
A celebration of Farming, Local Food & Community
We only offer the event once a year! You’ll have the opportunity to tour three of our local farm sites and see first hand how Living Lands Agrarian Network is creating more local food and more local farmers in our community.  Our farms are nestled in local neighborhoods,  in cooperation with private home-owners.  Meet our farmers, see the properties, and get inspired!
After the tours, enjoy a celebration with a grilled picnic lunch featuring produce from our local farms and ice cream from TREATS of Nevada City.  Enjoy music, good company, and the bounty of the summer season.
Admission: $30, or FREE with 2011 Living Lands Membership!

Nevada City Farmer's Market Starts This Saturday!
Come by and see us at the first 2011 Nevada City Farmer's Market this Saturday, 8:30am - 12:30pm in downtown Nevada City.  Living Lands has a double booth this year, so it will be easier to come in and say hello, check out our produce, flowers, locally raised pork, and other delights from our farms.
For those of you who enjoy the Nevada City Farmer's Market and want to help support this community resource, consider joining the volunteer team that helps make this market possible every week! The dedicated crew is looking for a few more members to help set-up the market.  For more details, contact Jim at  916-806-2403.
Special Announcements for Our 2011 Living Lands Members:
Gleaning Alert for Thurdsay, June 16: as a 2011 Living Lands Member, you are invited to come glean fresh produce off one of our local farms, including kale, fava beans, and arugula.  Bring a bag and pick what you like! You will be receiving more details on time and location later today.
For our 2011 Lady Bug and Preying Mantis Members, your organic, Living Lands t-shirts are ready for pick up at the Nevada City Farmers Market this Saturday! Come on by the booth and pick one out.  If you can't come by the market this season and would like yours sent in the mail, just let us know.
Summer Class Schedule
Family Farm Classes at the Food Love Project
If anyone knows how to get kids to devour vegetables, it's Farmer Amanda! Farmer Amanda will lead two community classes for families at the Food Love Project this summer.  The first one will be on July 24: Eat Your Greens!  Families will pick a green salad from the garden, learn about how to grow and eat fresh greens from the garden, and take home kale seeds to plant at home for a fall harvest.  More details coming soon!
Living Lands Home Farming Workshop Series
There is still time to get in on the Living Lands Home Farming Workshop Series! Class fees are $55 - $65, with discounts for Living Lands and APPLE Center members.  Upcoming classes include:
