Learn to use and maintain chainsaws safely at two workshops in Essex, VT coordinated by the UVM Extension New Farmer Project and the Women’s Ag Network. Workshop instructor Jessica Ricketson is an experienced sawyer who regularly trains trail crews and students on the safe use of chainsaws in the field. These workshops emphasize hands-on participation of all attendees and safe use of chainsaws at all times. Registration deadline is May 18!
Part I: Chainsaw Parts and Maintenance:
In this session of the series, you will get to know the basics of a chainsaw. You will learn how a chainsaw really “cuts,” what you need to know in order to mix fuel, the parts of the saw as well as basic maintenance. Sharpening, cleaning, even how to replace that pesky pull-cord if it breaks! We will also go over all personal protective gear, saw safety and methods for starting the saw.
