The School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) seeks to appoint a socio-cultural anthropologist working in the area of food systems and nutrition in Africa, Asia, or the Middle East. The appointment will be made in the Food Studies Centre (FSC), located in the Department of Anthropology. The appointee will also be an active member of the Leverhulme Centre for Integrative Research in Agriculture and Health (LCIRAH), based in the London International Development Centre (LIDC), and will conduct anthropological research at the intersection of the fields of agriculture and health in accordance with LCIRAH’s aims and objectives.
The appointment will initially be for two years as a post-doctoral fellow, and thereafter as a lecturer.  Translation of the post-doctoral position at the end of its two years into a lectureship will depend upon a review of performance against a series of objectives agreed at the beginning of the appointment.
