The Viva Farms Incubator Program was launched in June 2009 by GrowFood.org, an international non-profit dedicated to recruiting, training and capitalizing the next generation of sustainable farmers. Viva Farms has been created as a pilot of a model that may be replicated nationally and globally to help new farmers overcome four common barriers to entry:

• access to education, training and technical assistance
• access to capital and credit
• access to land
• access to markets
