Posted: February 28 2013

full-and-by-farmFull and By Farm 2013 Internships
General Description: Full and By is a small diversified farm producing vegetables, meat, eggs, dairy and maple syrup for our 70+ local CSA members. Horses provide much of the draft power for field work. Although not certified, our growing practices typically exceed organic standards, and we subscribe to the most humane of animal husbandry practices.
Internship Starts: April/May
Internship Ends: November--flexible
Number of Interns: 2
App Deadline: Until Filled
Minimum Length of Stay: 4 months
Meals: Breakfast and Lunch (our largest meals) are shared during the work week. Supper and weekend meals we typically eat separately. Farm products and some bulk items are provided for interns.
Skills Desired: A good strong work ethic and willing attitude outweigh experience, but any prior farm or construction work is certainly a plus. Applicants must be physically fit and have an attention to detail.
Educational Opportunities: As a small but diversified operation, all members of the farm team take part in a wide range of activities. Interns will gain exposure, instruction, and experience in many facets of this small farm operation. However, within the diversity there is
much repetition. Interns should be prepared to refine their skills by practicing many jobs over and over again.
Stipend: Monetary compensation commensurate with experience.
Housing: A small cabin with rustic kitchen and outhouse is located on-farm.
Preferred method Of Contact: email [email protected]
Internship Details: Interns will learn and assist with animal chores (feeding and moving cattle, poultry, swine and horses on pasture), hand-milking, vegetable field tasks (such as transplanting, weeding, and harvesting), haymaking, farm meal prep, animal slaughter and butchering, and construction projects.
