the end of an era

Posted: August 3 2010

The oldest continuously operating family farm in the country, Tuttle's, is up for sale. Here's what one blog reader, Anne Farrell, had to say about it:

A farm that was a major player during my childhood (long before I understood local produce or industrial ag) is going out of business.  I have such fond memories of shopping here - the smells, the people, the sheer variety of things I never got to see at our "regular" grocery store....  I thought some other greenhorns might find this story interesting, if a little sad. Alternatively, if a potential farmer with some serious funds is looking for land, this might be a great opportunity.
