seeking farm manager, new tripoli PA

Posted: February 15 2012

Description:
Chabodie Hollow Farms is a start-up organic farm-to-plate produce supplier that is located just a stones throw away from the Appalachian mountains in the beautiful town of New Tripoli Pennsylvania. The farm is very excited to undertake its first year of production and is looking for a qualified Farm Manager who has backgrounds in certified organic vegetable production, sustainable practices, and integrated pest management,  as well as some experience in animal husbandry. Chabodie Hollow Farms hopes to reach its 40 acre land potential within the first few years of operations and thus will be serving as an educational experience by hiring numerous agriculture, horticulture, and permaculture interns to be supervised by both the Farm Manager and owner. The farm’s partnership is exclusive with an organic food supplier (organic cafe serving soups, salads and sandwiches) in Philadelphia Pennsylvania and applicants would have the opportunity to work in both the labor and management side of both businesses if they are interested! The ideal candidate would be a young and hard working farmer, with an entrepreneurial mentality whose ambition and youthful nature will match the growth potential and fun loving attitude of this exciting opportunity.
Details:
Room and board are included and applicants will enjoy a rustic “summer kitchen” equipped with a log stove top, WiFi, bathroom, and shower (although many prefer to bathe in the spring fed pond on the property). All who work the farm are welcome to their share of the produce, although any other required food are not included but can be purchased at the local grocery store. Our farm is conveniently located less than ten minutes from many attractions including, the Appalachian trail, Jim Thorpe’s Glen Onoko Falls and rail road trails, a handful of creeks and streams, as well as Shankweiler’s, the oldest Drive-in Movie theater in America (amazing on summer nights).
