NOFA winter conference

Posted: December 24 2009

If you would like to promote at the conference, here's your opportunity.  See you at the mixer...

As most of you are probably already aware, the NOFA winter conference will be held Jan 22-24, 2010 in Saratoga Springs. While the NOFA conferences always provide bountiful learning for new farmers, this year there will be a particular focus on this audience, with a full-day Beginning Farmer track on Friday and a new event on Thurs. Jan 21, 7-11pm: a young farmer mixer. This is a celebratory networking evening with food, drinks, live music, and fun activities, sponsored by the Greenhorns, NOFA, the Cornell Small Farms Program, and Hawthorne Valley's Farm Beginnings Program. See attached flyer.
This is a great opportunity for you to reach young farmers with news of your offerings - trainings, apprenticeships, employment opps, business planning, mentoring programs, etc. We'd like to invite each of you to send us brochures, fliers, or informational resources to distribute/display, OR come on over yourself and join us for the fun. The mixer is free, the beer will be cold, and the music will be hoppin'. Oh yes, and the food will be good.
RSVP to Erica Frenay ([email protected]) by Jan. 8 to let her know if you would like to contribute any materials to a Beginning Farmers resource table, or join in person to represent any of the services your organization provides to new farmers. Materials can be mailed to Erica at 162 Plant Science, Ithaca NY 14853. Please make sure they are sent early enough to arrive by Mon. Jan. 18.
