greenhorn seeking farming partner

Posted: October 4 2011

Here's a note from young farmer Katee Lafleur, seeking a partner in Petaluma.

Hi there,
I'm in the process of starting a two-acre farm here on the Marin/Sonoma county border on a beautiful 50-acre former cow ranch.
Currently the fields are in cover crop, and I'm making plans to grow and sell produce exclusively for School District Kitchens come next Spring.
There is so much potential on the land, and so much to do! I'm looking for an enthusiastic and experienced person or couple  to join me beginning as early as this Winter, or early Spring 2012, in this exciting endeavor.
I can't offer immediate compensation, but we can form a business plan together and share in the profits, or, if you'd rather just help out for a season or two, we can negotiate something as well.
Housing will be determined. If you have your own trailer that would be great, or we can set you up in luxe tent style, sharing a kitchen and bathroom. Possibility of room in a more permanent structure.
I'm looking for someone who wants to get right into it, knows what they're doing, and has the passion and desire to see what it takes to start your own farm!
Please e-mail me and let me know about yourself and your situation, and we will talk more! Thanks.
