grants for farmers

Posted: November 6 2010

The Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) offers competitive grants for new ideas in farming that improve profits, stewardship, and the vibrancy of farm communities.
Northeast SARE is made up of Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C.

Grants come in two sizes--large, multiyear projects ranging from $30,000 to $250,000, and smaller, shorter-term projects of $15,000 or less. The two funding tiers have different application requirements.

If you seek a grant, this site covers application criteria, deadlines, and grant program priorities. Find out who can apply and how each grant program serves a different sector of the farm community. You can also read brief project summaries to see what has been funded in the past.
