csa farm for sale

Posted: March 8 2011

Here's the listing, plus a note from Kelly to the greenhorns community. This is a wonderful opportunity!

Metro Phoenix, Arizona area. Fully operational and quite profitable, turn-key operation with 250 CSA members, 33 acres under cultivation, full farm staff and 2,600 SF house (4 Bedroom, 2 ½ Bath, 3-Car Garage on 2.50 acre parcel). $475,000. E-Mail: [email protected] or (602) 751-0655.
Desert Roots Farm is located about 40 miles SE of Phoenix so there is a huge market of CSA customers yet to be tapped. I started Desert Roots Farm in 2001 and we've been steadily growing ever since. We have 33 acres under organic (but, not certified) cultivation and we've been averaging 250-300 CSA members for the last 4 years. We're the second largest CSA in the Phoenix metro area. We're able to grow year round here in Arizona which makes for a steady, year-round income. I'm looking to sell the farm as it is currently operating (we don't plan to shut down or slow operations) along with all the farm equipment, land leases, client list, farm staff and house. Additionally, I'd be willing to stay on as a "consultant" if they buyer wanted me to for 6 months. This is a great opportunity for someone to get a "running start" with a great operation.....furthermore, the asking price for the business is partially secured by the fact that a nice house is included in the purchase price (4 Bedroom, 2 ½ Bath, 3-Car Garage on 2.50 acre parcel).
Selling my farm is a bit bitter-sweet....I've put every ounce of my effort that last 10 years into building this farm/CSA and I'm really proud of what I've accomplished and very much want to see it live on beyond my presence here. I'm 34 years old right now and just ready to move onto the next phase of my life....I'd like to move to another state and that is why I feel it's time to sell my farm.
Please only inquire if you're seriously interested and at that point I'd be happy to discuss more of the specifics of the sale.
