Celebrate the creation of locally grown and sewn denim jeans while enjoying the tastes and terroir experience of our land's foods and wines, along with demos of indigo dyeing, spinning and weaving, and listening to music by Arann Harris.
Grow Your Jeans, a Fibershed program, brings together the work of 56 regional ranchers, farmers, and designers, many of which are either part of Marin Organic, or connected via a strategic geographical connection. Fibershed has worked for 4 years on the pilot to grow all the indigo (much of it grown in West Marin), the biodynamic cotton, and find local people to weave and construct these utilitarian garments, and offer them through a CSA model
Included in the evening’s festivities will be a fashion show that weaves the Fibershed producer community together through the pairing of our denim with ‘grass-fed’ tops. Funds raised from this event are being used to provide education & outreach that speaks directly to the importance of regional textile cultures and economies, and to assess the expansion potential of regenerative agriculture and value-added artisan supply chains in our community.
