Apprenticeship - Vashon Island, WA

Posted: March 11 2010

Hogsback Farm is looking for an apprentice for the 2010 growing season.  We are a small, family-owned, non-certified organic vegetable farm located on Vashon Island.  We grow a wide variety of vegetables, fruits, and berries which we market directly via a 30 person CSA, as well as at our local
farmer's market.  This year we will also have honey bees for the first time!
The apprenticeship seeks to give young farmers a solid base when it comes to all aspects of operating a small market farm, including all aspects of
growing, greenhouse work, farm planning, marketing, and soil maintenance. The work is 35 hours a week, give or take, starting asap and ending the last week of October.  Stipend and housing is provided, in addition to food from the farm obviously.
