General Description: Acorn Hill is a NOFA-NY Farmer's Pledge small family farm and micro-creamery in southwestern Ulster county (Mid-Hudson Valley/Catskill region). We milk approximately 25 dairy goats and produce cheeses that are sold at farmer's markets, through CSAs, to chefs, and select retail locations.
Internship Starts: Immediately
Internship Ends: November 2012 or later

Minimum Length of Stay: Full season
Meals: Most meals interns prepare in their own kitchen. A share of goat milk, cheese, and meat along with garden produce is available for meal preperation
Skills Desired: Must be able to lift 50 lbs regularly and have plenty of energy to take on the callenges some days on a farm can toss our way. Dairy farm experience is a plus but not required but attention to detail is a must along with willingness to learn.
Educational Opportunities: Learn organic dairy goat management, FAMACHA and body condition scoring, cheese-making, marketing and organic market gardening. Also learn about NYS regulations for dairy and home kitchen production of value added farm products.

Housing: One bedroom apartment in our home with full kitchen, cable, WiFi and utilities included. Non-smokers only please. Spring through fall season requires sharing of the apartment by two interns.

Internship Details: We are looking for two hard working strong individuals with an interest in organic management of goats who can follow instructions and take responsibility for multiple tasks. In addition interns will work in the creamery and attend farmer's markets.
