FREE LOCAL FOOD LUNCH prepared by Smithereen Farm.

SMOKING AND EATING OF ALEWIVES from the Pennamaquan River in the Downeast Salmon Federation smoker.

CANOEING the Pennamaquan River, led by Eric Otter Bacon. Space is limited, sign up here! Eric will also present on Passamaquoddy canoe material culture and practices.

BICYCLE REPAIR AND GROUP RIDES with Mike of Mike's Bikes in Eastport. Bring your bike out of storage for the season, grab a tune-up!

LEARN FROM FISH BIOLOGISTS and walk over to check out the beautiful river full of fish with shad blossoms in bloom. The river full of spring-run alewives is glorious!

LEARN TO STAKE PLANTS David Holmberg of Maine Coast Heritage Trust will teach a hands-on workshop about live staking, using cuttings to propagate in situ bank stabilization. Meet at the Smithereen Farmstore porch at 2pm, bring your own hand clippers if you have them, get ready to enjoy riparian restoration praxis.

LOCAL LIVE MUSIC by The Maple Honeys, Fish Husbands, and Adam Steinberg.

ART ACTIVITIES including family-friendly painting of fish cut outs to take home or bring to a parade, and "beach trash" puppet-making with Lubec Turtle Dance Co-op's Chuck Kniffen.

SCIENCE PRESENTATION about fish restoration work in the area and the recovery of our native fish despite all the impediments. Learn about the returns!

EXPLORING the flat, family-friendly Alewife Trail beside the river, an interpretive path with signage by local artist. Take a dip in the river! See the fish!

• The Smithereen Farmstore will be open, 9am–5pm, with local produce, cheese, meats, and baked goods... special treats for the festival, and plenty of local treasures to take home.
• Make a weekend of it and book your campsite at Blueberry Land, or at Cobscook Bay State Park for a full agritourism experience.
