YES IT’S TRUE- A LEGENDARY HUDSON PAIRING

Liv Carrow, the wayward ex-local darling of the alleged local music scene, will return to play some songs for you on the glittering stage, joined by one of the world’s most unique accordion crooners, Catskill’s very own Brian Dewan.

Bring your greenback dollars and some stamina for stringed instruments and pithy wordplay. Click here to learn more!

“this soil is fertile.”

posted June 5, 2016

Artists from South Sudan, a new country fraught with internal conflict, make a case for the power of community agriculture in their music video. As they sing, rap, and comb through fields of corn, okra, and sorghum, their message is clear: There’s rich soil in Sudan, and it will improve the lives of people if they decide to use it–but it’s up to them to start digging.

Check out the behind-the-scenes interviews, too, for words from The Jay Family about why they feel farming can help the people of Sudan. Yuppie Jay says, “People blame the governor when something goes wrong. But at our homes we need to put things right. We need to go, to present to the government that we have made this, we have crops, we have farms. Then the government can support with money for roads, for tractors. But we can’t wait for the government to fix all our problems. We need to arrange ourselves and be where we are.”

music: corner tour

posted November 5, 2015

Corner Tour is a band of charmers. We like to defy your ears with our melancholy mountain carnival. But don’t ask us what kind of music this is. Listen for yourself especially around bedtime for some dream inspiration. To listen, CLICK HERE!

A lightning bolt struck San Francisco in 1998 and Corner Tour was born. We began making music for films, circuses, fishing trips, pie parties, communitiy gatherings, and most especially, old folks homes. Stormy Knight plays horns & guitar, Caroline Shanti plays accordion & bass, Alicia McCarthy plays banjo & guitar, Carolyn Cooley plays accordion & sings, Elaine Buchkholtz joins us on Ektar & vocals. Listen for us in a train tunnel after midnight.

farm aid turns 30 and throws a rocking party, sept. 19, chicago

Farm Aid 30  will be at FirstMerit Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island on Saturday, September 19! Tickets on sale August 3 with (limited) discounted tickets available to farmers. There are plenty of ways for farmers, advocacy groups, and social media faries to get involved. More details: here!

If you aren’t familiar with Farm Aid yet, it’s a long-standing advocate of American farmers. Started with a benefit concert to help save family farms organized by Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, and Neil Young in 1985, for the last 30 years the organization has been instrumental (har-har) in bringing attention to the marked decline of family farms, raising support for organic farming, and fighting for the survival of small and mid-range farmers.
